When I'm on the
move, towing Houdini, the living room looks something like THIS.
Everything heavy or large is stored in between the two front
dinette seats, so to keep the front heavy and the back of the
trailer, light (to avoid swaying and other accidents).
Everything is secured so it won't go flying around when the
trailer bounces up and down. Now a day I no longer haul the
heavy table (you can see it on this photo) as I no longer need
it with my new set-up :)). The microwave fits perfect under the
extra seat and I can store my folding chairs there too, and
secure the microwave at the same time hehehe...
|

The back of
Houdini: Plenty of storage (for lighter stuff), nice wood cabinets and many drawers
:). PLUS what I love the most (see next photo)....
(note: second
area rug by the entrance - to keep dirt out - well, at least
SOME of it ;) ).
|

THE VANITY !! Complete
with super powerful lighting above, a large mirror and a small
counter space to place your make up, hair dryer, or even
(currently) a fake (but convincing) orchid.
|
|

Kitchen area: A
3 way refrigerator works on either propane, electricity of
battery. Tres cool. Above is a large counter
space (very appreciated) which I love! |
under the fridge is a
small storage area. I like to keep everything that has to do
with my hitch in there. Locks, front stabilizers, wheel, hitch
foot, etc etc... |
To the right of the fridge is
the small wardrobe closet. Jackets will fit, long coats
won't cause it is not tall enough. You can put a decent amount of
clothes in there and it's bigger/taller than most small trailers closets
I have seen. |
|
Above the
refrigerator: An addition, the after market :) microwave. This is a General Electric and works
great, complete with turn table but very small and only $39.00.
Note: You cannot run any microwaves on battery power. You will
need electrical
hook ups or a generator. Same with the nice A/C system. Above fridge (where microwave now is) are two
more storage closets where I store dry/canned food. |
Next
to the microwave, above the fridge, is the stereo system that
comes from the factory. In all honesty, it's real cheap. Could
really be a LOT better. My advice? Pass on that option and
install you own higher end stereo system. Meanwhile, it is light
and mounts at the bottom of upper pantry closet, so convenient
:).
|
Across the fridge is the sink
and gas stove. On this photo both are covered to provide counter
space when preparing a meal...
|
|
Here they are, uncovered and
ready to rock and roll. Below sink is a fairly large area to
store sauce pans. Below that I store light stuff like toilet
paper, paper towel, trash bags... There are a lot of pipes down
there so I am careful to only store super light and soft
stuff that can't harm the pipes. Under gas stove is a
drawer for forks, knives etc...
|
Flowers? No, just the gas
stove LOL. Caution must be used while cooking: The fan above
must be turned on and also preferably have a window cracked to
let the toxic fumes out cause this is a small enclosed area.
Note: Houdini comes equipped
with a fire extinguisher, Propane leak alarm system, Carbon
Monoxide alarm system and fire alarm system.
All in all, pretty safe :)
It also had a
Babe Alarm, but every time
Mr.181 stepped in the trailer, it went off, so I had to remove
it hehehe (just kidding)
|
close up of the sink. I really
like the white enamel :). The water pump routs the water from
the freshwater tank to the sink or bathroom :). There is also an
outside shower under this sink. You can access it from the outside,
allowing to rinse your feet or wash your dog outside (with hot
water hehe)
|
|
To the left of sink is the
door to the bathroom. It looks like a closet or cabinet so many
"visitors" don't know there is a toilet and hot shower
in there hehehe... Magic again!
|
Surprise!!!! Open up the door
and climb up if you are thin and limber enough (otherwise you'll
have to settle for the closest shrub LOL). Great flushing on
this little toilet by the way!
|
Here we are looking UP at the
bathroom's ceiling. You can see the shower head and also the
ceiling vent with fan. Oh, and the light too.
Lots of light inside this
small trailer: I counted 8 lights altogether!! Plus one outside
porch light.
|
|
the A/C unit (ceiling shot).
Should bring Houdini to ice cold temps in no time! This is not a
'small' A/C unit per say, since it is the same A/C Shadow Cruiser use
on their 16 and 19 feet trailers (so I was told, but don't take my
word for it)
|
Outside view of the air
conditioning unit which is located on the roof. Careful when
pulling under a carport or tree branch!!
|
Houdini's
little antenna, deployed :). Well, actually, not so
"little". This is the TV signal boosting antenna,
which I personally have never used, since I don't watch regular
TV LOL. When folded down the antenna cannot really be seen. It's
a cool gismo to have if you are an authentic couch potato :). |
|
Above living room is the bunk.
I call it "The bird perch". When folded up you can
hardly notice it, but it is actually pretty large when opened up
:). I have a cozy pillow, a special extra mattress top (Camp
World) and my good ol' sleeping bag (back from the days I used
to tent camp)
|
The upper bunk is pretty large and comfy
but will take some time getting used to. If you are claustrophobic,
good luck! Also, one always thinks they are going to fall down
while sleeping. As a result, I don't usually sleep very well on
the bunk. Otherwise it is quick to set-up and provides
sleeping for an additional person, bringing the total number of
people that could sleep inside Houdini to THREE. Better be limber though, not everyone could climb
up and (worse yet) come down without doing a header LOL.
|
My friend Jackie and I lounging
in the living room during the maiden voyage... Bunk is folded up
and as you see, it is pouf "gone", like magic! |
|
Same living room, converted to
a large bed that same night.
|
Trip #3: Mr. 181 cozy and
sleepy :)
|
Trip #1: My friend Jackie,
cozy and not so sleepy :)... I give the large bed to my guests
and I sleep on the bird perch LOL. (cause I'm nice :) ). |
|
One minute a living room, then
pouf a bedroom and now pouf a dining room! I told you Houdini
was magic! Portable cafe table (Camp World) of perfect size
folds in 1 second and is super light, yet sturdy. Here I
am having a gourmet early dinner :).
|
The same table doubles up as
an outside table for outdoor dining :)
|
Dinner with a view! This photo
taken from INSIDE Houdini. Had a spectacular view of the Malibu
mountains while eating... Life is goooood! |
