Dear Faith,
I've seen mention of your movie on the H.A.M.B. in the
past year or so. I am really impressed with the clips and
comments posted on Nov. 4 -- it's great to see someone
doing this. I've just donated some funds via your site/PayPal.
(...)
Keep up the good work!!

Hello
faith,
I own
1956 2door chevy. Just put in a fresh small block. Being
traditional I decided to run three deuces up top connected
to an m22 rock crusher 4 speed. So I decided to google up
3 deuces and came across your movie in a link to chevy man
I think. Please let me tell you I am old school and your
flick seems to have all the right elements. And I am more
than impressed that this comes from an up and coming
female filmmaker! Can’t wait 2 see your movie. Please let
me know where and when I can purchase a copy. Recently
watched the California kid, and can say from the teasers,
yours looks like a future car classic movie. Thanks for
making this movie...
Sincerely rocky

Hi Faith,
We all had a great time Wednesday at the swing dance,
especially Athena who will be emailing you tomorrow. It was
tremendous! We are soooo excited about the movie like you
wouldn't believe. My husband has all the guys at work
googling your website and they all call when we are at the
shoot to share in the excitement. You have done a terrific
job filming, casting, wardrobe, etc. This will certainly be
experienced by all who see the film/DVD.
Thanks for the opportunity,

Hi Faith,
Billy Gibbons here. Dont get exited, Im not the one from
Texas, who's out of ZZTop with a beard, who's a great guitar
player with lots of money and loads of cool car's. No, I'm
the one from the UK, who's not out of ZZTop, without a
beard, cant play the guitar too well, got no money and only
got two cool car's. (Mind you, I bet the other Billy Gibbons
hasn't got a Rocket like mine, then again, he probably has)
Anyway, just
thought I'd drop you all a line to say a heart-felt "Thanks"
for making the movie, "Deuce of Spades" Even though I've
only seen the teaser, it blew me away!
You know what would be an absolute bonus for me....If you
got the word "Rockabilly" in the movie too. I'll have to
wait and see.
Thanks for
taking the time to read this and, more importantly, for
making the movie. I wish you the very best of luck and good
health to you all.
Billy (not out of ZZTop)
Gibbons. Cheshire, UK

Hello Faith,
Just want to
say thanks for the amazing opportunity Kaitlyn had to
work with you last night. She had a great time, learned a
lot, and has now fallen in love with red lipstick! Please
keep her in mind for any future scenes as she'd love the
chance to work with you and your cast again. We both think
your work is fabulous and can't wait to share about your
film with other classic car enthusiasts as well as friends
and family. Thanks again and hope to see you sometime soon!

This evening I
came across a picture of you and your roadster when I
searched "Hot Rod" on Flickr.
So I did a Yahoo search and found your site. And your
"ticklers."
Looks like good stuff. I grew up in San Gabriel and I was a
Model A hot
rodding teen in the 50s. And fuzzy as this old boy's memory
has become,
your video clips all appear to be spot on.
Wish I was back in SoCal and able to help. (...)
Guess I'll just have to buy a ticket or get the DVD.
Good luck to you and your endeavor.

Faith,
I had a sense of place on the ranch where we were shooting
last night. Like I sometimes do at the beach or in the High
Sierra, our shoot yesterday was in an amazing location a
place that had a power to it. The land itself , the trees,
the surrounding mountains were beautiful, but so were the
family members I had a chance to talk to. The barn and the
stuff in it was fun, especially for a car guy like me.
Best of all, of course, was watching you work. You are
so intense and at the same time so caring. You drive
yourself very hard. I'm sure people tell you that all the
time. You are "tightly wound" as a friend said of me during
my teaching days at CSUN. Along with this, however, you are
so very caring for others, those whose lives you touch.
Those around you carry a huge sense of respect for you and
what you do as director, producer (and 50 other roles you take
on as you make your film. Thank you for sharing so much of
"you" with me. It is amazing to watch you work.
(...) I want again to say thank you for including me in the
shoot both two weeks ago and last night. It was a pleasure.
Jerry is a special guy, as are many others whom I had a
chance to meet briefly. He is able to reach out and leave
others (like me) feel they are welcome and valuable in the
filming. All of the people have respect for you and what
you are doing.
I would like to be of help to you in any way you might find
useful in the completion of the film. That is with cars, of
course, but also with anything else on the set such as
production "chores" and the like. Please don't hesitate to
let me know.
All the best.

First of all I would love to ride out to El mirage in the
hotrod! That would be amazing so if we can work that out I
would love it. Also the cast slideshow with our character
name sounds like a great great idea but your always coming
up with great ideas so it's nothing new. And thank you so
much for giving me the opportunity to work with you on this
and thank you for all the help and progress you've given to

forward to being

Hi Faith,
(...) I had fun being on set. One day maybe I’ll
be doing what your doing. It was nice to see the car turn on
with ok idling and give you one last shot even though the
transmission had no transmission fluid at all. It’s a miracle
she even moved. Me and my buddy Travis had a hard time getting
a way to bring the car to the shoot but I’m a man of my word
and knew I couldn’t let you down. That’s why I got a u-haul.
The only car shows I go to are ones down here in orange
county. I’m not sure how long it’s going to take to bring her
back to life. I can’t wait to see a picture of the car through
your camera. Thanks for the opportunity and let me know if
you need anything else. I’ll be happy to help.

Hi Faith-
I still can't
believe that the narrow "Truck Driveway" you filmed on
today, looks like a two lane road in the film. It is totally
convincing. Seeing it in person, I was completely amazed to
see what you did to make that look like a two lane County
Road. I'm so glad I was there, because I never would have
believed it if I didn't see it for myself.
I wanted to
thank you for creating this Movie. Yes, thank you.
Remember how I
told you that "Good people attract other good people"? I think
you have gone just that, and the proof is the Cast and
Volunteers on Deuce Of Spades. I was totally blown away today
by how nice your Cast Members are, and the Car Volunteers who
attended today. Everyone is just soooo nice to talk to and be
around. I feel that is primarily your doing and you deserve
credit for it!
I think you have
a super Team, that you have hand-picked and assembled. As you
know, it's not everyone who will come out and work on a Movie
like this. Sadly most folks do not have the temperament to be
patient during filming, and understand that the process takes
a lot of time. Today, your Car Volunteers were outstanding in
that respect, especially AJ and Garth. I was very proud to
meet them in person today. Super guys!! (Great cars too!)
I hate to think
what would have happened if you had never created the idea to
do this Movie. We'd never have met and I never would have met
all these wonderful people. See how important your creative
talent is?
Thank you Faith!
Always,
Jerry:>)
p.s.- I'm glad
you didn't sell the major rights to Deuce Of Spades too. Your
not selling-out, tells me alot about you. I'm proud to know
you. Keep the Faith!! God is with you!

Hi Faith,,, it

Your talent really
impresses me, and I’m sure a lot of others also. I watched the
links,,, unbelievable GREAT!! Keep it up, “Yer doin’ good
Kid”!!!
I wish I was
closer,, and a bit younger,,, I would be there in a flash.
Also, all I have is my old Triumph dirt bike and a lot of
memories. I would really like to be there. “Life is short man,
when ya get a break,,, ya got to take it when ya can, sometimes
you won’t get another for along time,,,, sometimes you won’t get
another one at all,,,, ever.” (THE PARK BENCH)
Really good,,,
different movie,, but all sooooo true!!!!
Wishing you the
very best,,,, and again, I really wish I was there, it strikes
a note in my heart, Hot Rods, M/C’s, El Mirage, etc, and warm
summer nights and cool winter days. I just close my eyes,,,
it’s all there.
As always, I
remain cordially yours,,,

Congratulations for your
film, the clips are very enticing... Will we be able to see the film
in France? I really enjoyed how you merged hotrods with opera, this is
a great idea, it reminded me of the Walkiri in Apocalypse Now, under
the helicopter attack...
This must be quite an
adventure for you, a French girl making a film on American hotrods and
filming, I assume, In California... You must be one heck of a
determined lady...
Well, I wanted to say
hats down for your work and best of luck with your project,
Eric, FRANCE

You are doing what many
just don't have the balls to do (Even though you literally don't have
any). Hahaha Keep
it up and I will be waiting to see this flick 110%. All the bashers
would sooner watch that fast and furious crap, then a true hotrod flick.
It could be inaccurate, low budget, crappy quality, with bad acting and
heck even a bad story, but in the end, it is a hotrod movie that is very
rarely done these days, so if you flick does better then any of that,
then it will be a hit. Hmmmm, makes you think when everyone compares to
AG that was made how long ago, that it is time for a new one and a
hotrod movie done right meaning before some huge producer who doesn't
know shit, tries to make a hotrod movie and ruin the whole hotrod image
with some crappy corny story plot to make his million. I can see it
already, a high end hotrod movie with aluminum spoilers, neon lights and
NOS having some greasy saying he lives a 1/4 mile a time.
We all have dreams and you are going for yours, taking the impossible
and making it possible. Not only you are right on the money for making
this movie, but you can be a role model for many that think going
anywhere in life is impossible, cause it is possible and many need to
see this.
On another note, I would be right there helping out, but when I live in
Canada, all I can do is watch from the side lines and curse at why I'm
such a poor ass to do anything cool. LOL As this Canadian would proudly
say to you "F'N Right". Now lets see a new hotrod film as soon as we
can.

Faith, from reading all of
your posts, I can relate what your going through to how most of us build
a Rod.
We start out with a dream or idea of what we want to accomplish. We tear
it down and examine the individual pieces and see what is usable and
what is not.
We stay up all night going over each aspect of the build trying to
determine where to start and in what order to progress. We make a list
(mentally or otherwise) of what we want to accomplish each day, and we
usually at best get half of it done.
We start by doing what we have the tools to do and look for help to do
the things we can't.
As work progresses and we acquire more pieces and tools and gain more
knowledge we start to see in our minds more of the finished project.
We sometimes compare our project with others, hear opinions of how we
need to do this or that, but realize that 'hey this is mine and although
I want others to look at it and say "that's cool" we still want it to be
unique in many ways'.
As it starts nearing completion it usually takes on a life of its own
where it starts to actually look like something.
One of the hardest parts is finding a stopping point which many times is
determined by budget. Its easy to over do this or that but in the end
the finished ride has to have a balance to it. The look has to flow, it
has to have a sound and heartbeat. Most of all we have to be proud of
what we have accomplished which is to make the finished project much
more that the sum of its parts.
We then show it off to the world hoping that at least a few see it the
way we do , understand the look we were after, and appreciate what we
have accomplished.

Hi again,
After getting some rest I took the time to check out your film project,
it looks great, nice to see some original ideas! (...)
Will I be able to see the finished product in Australia?
Anyways good luck!

I find myself playing that
trailer with the Puccini track to my kids during breakfast most
mornings. Something so soothing but so cool with the roadster.
The kids love it! Me too!
Top job so far Faith. Can't wait to see the movie and buy the DVD.

I've seen this thread a
few times over the last few weeks, and thought "Great, someone wants to
make a 'hot rod' movie. What castrated abomination is Hollywood going to
put out now?"
I'm so sick of Hollywood movies, I almost categorically refuse to watch
anything filmed here in the US.
But, I read a post by HRG, and was hooked. So, I've read the whole
thread.
Anyway, I'm putting a link on thecarfarm's website; it gets about a
thousand visitors a month, and these people need to know about this
movie. |

Faith,
You are doing a great
job of documenting your project. I read it every day. Missed you at
the lakebed this past weekend.

Thanks for the scoop,
Faith! I really want you to be successful with
producing your movie so I'm glad to help where needed. There are
two types
of people in the world - the ones who just talk about doing what they
are
passionate about and the ones who actually do something about what they
care about. You are doing it!
All the best!

From what I see this is shaping up to be a great movie - It's about
time.
I have access to some great period props - in Northern California - let
me know what you need.
Keep up the great work!

Firstly love the old rod. A classic style. Wished your movie was being
made in Oz I'd be up there in a flash. Good luck with it anyway and hope
to see it make its way out to Australia so I can see it.
