didn't look for ivories, they found me! I was working with creating
a DT version of the Holy Grail opaques and had to outcross in order
to inject that DT gene in there. As a result of my experimental
crosses, ivories were born. When the first few popped up in my
spawning tanks, I knew they were too special to let go by the
wayside. So I decided to work this new color variation and to
establish it. Over the years, ivories have blossomed, showing nice
finnage, clean satiny white bodies and gold/smoke fins. Lately I
started producing some with blue/gold BF, which is a nice looking
betta in deed! And in the last months, a couple of solid blue finned
ivories were produced as well. Just as opaques tend to get red
washes, ivories tend to have light blue washes at the base of their
fins, usually dorsal or tail. They are elegant looking fish with a
lot of class and since the yellow color has combined with a layer of
opaque iridescence, they look like real "golden" shiny
little jewels. Because they carry opaque, they are slightly more
fragile than your average betta, although more sturdy than opaques
themselves. Hence I recommend you know what you are doing before
getting ivories. Ivories breed true and produce 100% ivories.
